FEMA has released a new flood map for Harris County. The new map will become effective January 6, 2017. If your home is in a new Flood zone DO NOT WAIT to purchase flood insurance. Securing flood insurance now before the map goes into effect will be considerably cheaper. Check with your mortgage company once you get rates to see how flood insurance will effect your monthly payment.
